FB-3200, a freeware emulation of the Free Korg PS-3200 VST Plugin vintage analog synthesizer.
Following the recent release of the FB-3300 synthesizer and its predecessor, the FB-3100, Full Bucket Music continues ahead with its efforts of resurrecting rare, old Korg synthesizers in plug-in format. The subject of reincarnation this time is the KORG PS-3200 semi-modular synth from 1978. The original instrument’s behavior and controls have been faithfully recreated, FBM claims. That’s also evident from the synthesizer’s interface, which straight-up looks the part.
Other things the FB-3200 has to show synthesizer lovers are band-limited oscillators, classic lowpass filters, an equalizer section, a pair of modulation generators, and a paraphonic envelope generator. The semi-modular design has been upgraded with micro-tuning options and further tweaks like a 4-pole lowpass filter and adjustable resonators. The plugin also responds to note velocity, unlike its hardware counterpart. All parameters are controllable via MIDI CC. A user manual can be downloaded in English and French as well. Molekules is a soundscape generator with ten preset sounds which were created by running a piano sample into the MOLEKULAR modular multi-effects plug-in by Native Instruments. The resulting sounds were resampled, edited, and used as the sound source in this free virtual instrument. Molekules was put together using Maize Sampler, a piece of standalone software that enables easy creation of sample-based instrument plugins.
Quite experimental and unusual to begin with, the sounds in Molekules can be further shaped and adjusted with an ADSR envelope, Pan, and Gain controls; in addition to modulation via LFO with options for Rate, Depth, Waveform, and Destination. Finally, there are two built-in effects: Reverb and Pitch-shift. The plugin still features a dedicated filter section with cutoff frequency adjustments for the HP and LP filters. A preset manager is also included in the top section of the interface, along with undo/redo buttons and a bypass switch. The user interface is fully resizable. HY-Lofi2 looks slightly different from its predecessor, sharing a similar color scheme but with redesigned buttons and sliders to fit the developer’s new lineup of plugins.
In use, HY-Lofi2 is a great tool for adding a bit of dirt to the processed signal. The bit reduction module offers four different digital distortion flavors to choose from, whereas the drive and filter sections help do a good job of rounding up the processed audio signal before the output.

Fathom Mono Modular Synthesizer
Seaweed Audio has announced the release of Fathom Mono, the freeware monophonic version of the Fathom Pro ($35) modular wavetable synthesizer in VST plugin format for Windows-based digital audio workstations.
Fathom Mono is identical to the full Fathom Pro version feature-wise, except for its limited polyphony and the lack of ability to save edited waveforms. Everything else, entire synthesis engine included, is exactly the same as in the full product.
At its core, Fathom is a fully modular virtual synthesizer which allows the user to connect any two components together. The patching possibilities are only limited by the synth’s twenty available signal flow slots and, of course, the processing power of your computer. To help with monitoring the performance while creating a patch, Fathom shows a real-time CPU load readout in the upper-right corner of the GUI. The components are shown in a large panel in the middle of the interface with a handy real-time waveform display in the background. The patching of virtual cables is quite elegant, with a simple drag and drop workflow which doesn’t result in confusion and unnecessary clutter. The visual representation of the signal flow is also pulled off quite well, with easily identifiable modules and connections.
A modular synth ain’t no fun if you don’t have any interesting components to patch together, though. Thankfully, there’s tons of cool stuff to play around with in Fathom, from its five powerful oscillators to 30 different filter models, unlimited modulation sources, and custom waveform import (in WAV format). The oscillator types on offer are alias-free analog and additive, impulse and frequency pulse oscillators, and most importantly, the wavetable and wave draw oscillators which open almost limitless sound design possibilities. The filters are no less impressive, covering a range of common variants, along with the Butterworth filter and various analog-modeled filter types.

This means the behavior of the EQ will be different depending on the amplitude and other characteristics of the input source.

The higher Q setting would be useful for more surgical cutting, as opposed to boosting which typically sounds better at a lower Q. The frequency selection points for all of the dials are fixed. FB-1300, a new free synthesizer plugin that emulates the Korg PS-3100 polyphonic analog synthesizer.
“The PS-3100 was, in fact, the first synthesizer with the classic KORG patch bay, previewing many of the well-known MS-20 features, and the first (semi-)modular polyphonic synth at all!”
With this FB-3100 free software synthesizer, they tried to get closer to the original unit, as behavior, controllers, and sound.
This plugin featuring classic two-pole lowpass filters, band-limited oscillators, a resonators section, two modulation generators, sample & hold controls, additional ‘paraphonic’ Envelope. Generator, a semi-modular patch panel, micro tuning option, additional tweaks, MIDI learn and that’s it.

Drum Machine is a freeware drum rompler in VST/AU plugin formats for Windows and Mac OS X, featuring the drum sounds from our free 99 Drum Samples sample library. The plugin was developed by SampleScience. This initial version comes with twelve free drum kits and will be expanded with more built-in drum samples and kits in future updates (which will also free).
The plugin features eight drum slots with support for stereo and multiple mono outputs. Each drum channel comes with volume and pan controls, along with global pan/volume controls and an LFO for pitch modulation. The Low and High knobs in the upper-right corner of the user interface control the MIDI velocity range.
The drop-down menu is used for browsing through the available drum kits. More kits will be added in forthcoming free updates.

MAX1
An automatic compressor with “intelligent” and variable release time and ratio settings.
The effect features an auto-release algorithm which conforms the compressor’s response to the characteristics of the processed signal. To make the workflow simpler than what is normally seen in a compressor, MAX1 features only the threshold, attack, and post gain (aka output volume) knobs, along with a soft clipper switch and a peak/RMS switch for the gain reduction and volume meters. In practice, this means that the user can simply load the plugin on a channel that needs to be compressed, adjust the threshold value to set the compression amount, and adjust the attack time to taste (depending on how much or little the transients need to be emphasized).
Control your peaks very easily or increase the energy and levels of your track or mix effortlessly.
Few controls but “Huge” sound!
The Plugin has accurate metering for both L/R input and output channels as well as Gain Gain Reduction Metering.
Great Presets to get you started on all types of material and also save your own presets.
When compressing a lot , just use the “Attack” knob to dial back the punch easily. Use the soft limit to make your tracks loud effortlessly and transparently.
Never Lose “Bass” when maximizing your mix or sounds, retain the character of your sounds with this transparent dynamics processor.

Transpire
Transpire is a transient processor. It can enhance or dampen the initial attack and the sustain (body) of sound. Transpire has been designed to work well with drums and percussion. It does not operate linearly, which means small transients are being affected relatively stronger than large transients. This is good for bringing up smaller details while not overloading on large hits. As a result, percussive tracks can sound more steady and controlled compared to traditional transient enhancers.
