ToneDeluxe amp

The ToneDeluxe is designed as a full analog tube amplifier from preamp stage to cabinet. Based on ECC83 and EL34 tubes, its analog time model design allows to reduce the delay of the signal processing and thus give a "pleasure of playing" for guitarists. It offers two independent channels : clean and high gain. The high gain chanel is versatile thanks to the DriveTone setting that cut/boost high frequency before the tone stack.
  • Two channels with independent gain/volume
  • ECC83 & EL34 simulation
  • Based on analog time model
  • Full tone stack
  • Drive is volume responsive
  • Two springs reverb models
  • Five cabinet models

TapeDither and SpatializeDither

Airwindows has released TapeDither and SpatializeDither

TapeDither

TL;DW: TPDF variant with noise like reel-to-reel tape.

http://www.airwindows.com/tapedither/

[ no GUI ]

Harmonics

HoRNet Harmonics is a wave shaper based on the Chebyshev polynomials. Its non-linear processing lets you adjust the level of harmonics added to the signal, warming it up in different ways.
The plugin provides 10 harmonics generators of which you can set the amplitude and phase, increasing or decreasing the impact of the harmonic on the input signal. The resulting sine wave equivalent shape is displayed on the right side of the GUI.

HoRNet Harmonics provides great flexibility and lets you create interesting distortion, try for instance to remove the fundamental frequency (set the first slider to zero) and create a “broken record” sound, or use one of the provided preset to explore the different possibilities offered by the plugin.

Noisebud Chokidar EQ

Chokidar EQBalancing Mastering EQ

Chokidar EQ is intended for balancing mixes in mastering. Chokidar is build from an ingenious analogue concept that would have knocked your socks of if it wasn’t for the amount of added noise. When we went through the blue prints for the analogue circuits we realized that it would be fairly easy to make a digital version that would be completely noise free (digital “cabling” is good that way) so we went ahead and created the Hi-Shelf filter at first and got stunned how good it was. The principle seemed to migrate really well into the digital world so we decided to build the whole damn thing. You can almost guess what it does by just listen to it and you might as well do that because we’re going to keep the concept a secret, at least for now.

SIR spectrum analyzer

SpectrumAnalyzer is a state-of-the-art spectrum analyzer plugin, which offers a lot of opportunities to display the spectral content of your audio material and helps you create a better mix this way. SpectrumAnalyzer comes in two editions, a free and a full version.
SpectrumAnalyzer uses modern and reliable technics to analyze your audio material. It has a FFT (Fast-Fourier-Transform) and an analog-style (parallel band-pass IIR filter) engine, both of which can run simultaneously. So you can benefit from the more accurate time resolution of the band-pass filters and the better frequency resolution of the FFT at the same time. Check out the cool intelligent peak-detection, which automatically detects resonant frequency peaks in the signal. Use the snapshot function to easily save the current state of your analyzer, so you can compare the spectral profile of your current project with other songs. SpectrumAnalyzer also includes a VU-Meter (with peak and RMS measurement) and a Stereo Correlation Meter.

Filterjam

Filterjam is a multi-band resonant filter delivering weird ringmod-like filtered sounds. The input signal is divided into 4 bands that are then summed or multiplied together according to the selected mode. Filterjam can be very harsh or gentle, it can add brightness or depth to synth sounds, but it can also completely mangle acoustic sources.

Airwindows various

Airwindows plugins are modular, graphic-less, stripped-down, VST plugins.

why no GUI?

Airwindows’ reputation was built out of generic-interface plugins, which typically focus on doing only one thing, often with very simple controls, labelled to help understanding but not to encourage formulaic work. There are two reasons for the generic, non-GUI interfaces. One, because it improves reliability a huge amount (many audio plugin bugs, including showstopper bugs, have to do with the GUI part). Two, because time that could be spent debugging the GUI or tweaking its look—or writing copyprotect code—can be better spent improving the sound. That’s how Airwindows rolls, since 2007.

in mix, nobody can hear your screen

Airwindows is about listening. It’s about the sound being far more exciting than looking at the screen, because that’s all your audience will have to go by. If you get good feelings, it had better be about what you hear! The plugins naturally lend themselves to MIDI control, assigning sliders to control surfaces. Doing that, you can mix without watching pixels, and listen without being distracted by nonsounds.

PurestGain, Distance, SurgeTide, Point, ToneSlant...

X Crash

X Crash is a sampled 16 inch crash cymbal. This is an "explosive" crash from a well known cymbal maker. It was recorded using 3 microphones (one aiming at the top + a stereo pair to capture the room sound). You can mix the 2 tracks using different settings to sculpt its sound and get a wide sonic range.

Samples were carefully edited and chosen, they are long, from 18 to 20 seconds, and are organized on 4 velocity layers to get a natural sound and play.

Sanford Cobalt synthesizer

Sanford Sound Design has set free its Cobalt synthesizer inspired by many of the digital synthesizers from the 1980s.

In the early 80s as digital technology became cheaper, many manufacturers designed synthesizers that combined earlier analog technology with newer digital technology. These were known as hybrid synthesizers. Well-known hybrid synthesizers are the Korg DW8000 and DW6000, the Ensoniq ESQ-1, and the Kawai K3.

In analog/digital hybrid synthesizers, the oscillators responsible for generating waveforms are digital while the filter section remains analog. This approach freed designers to use any kind of waveform; they were no longer restricted to traditional analog waveforms such as sawtooth, triangle, and pulse. However, by using an analog filter, these synthesizers retained the warmth earlier analog synthesizers were known for.

Though Cobalt is a purely digital synthesizer, its overall architecture is very much like those early hybrid synthesizers. It features a wide selection of waveforms, most of which were resynthesized from actual hybrid synthesizers, while providing traditional subtractive synthesis capabilities for sculpting its sound.

Beatzille

Beat Magazine's Beatzille is a less powerful, feature-limited version of U-He’s commercial Bazille virtual instrument. It features fewer oscillators, filters, effects and modulation sources than the full version and it also doesn’t feature voice stacking. On the other hand, Beatzille’s reduced feature set results in a lower overall CPU usage, which can actually be quite helpful for users with lower end computers.
Beatzille is available for free download via Beat Magazine’s Facebook page

Brandulator

the new free plugin «Brandulator» of its own design that creates a special audio effect with a unique sound that is similar to the flanger, vocoder and the harmonizer, but has a different operating principle, in which the input signal is branched into three channels is adapted comb filters, tone their settings can be changed to 16th times per bar.
The effect also functions as a kind of arpeggiator that operates synchronously with the DAW, so the detailed design should have an appropriate time signature, although it is not required. Tonal settings of each channel can be set either manually using the controls, and accident in accordance with a predetermined harmonic law selected from the list, numbering about three hundred different harmonies. Randomization of tones can be performed either manually or automatically at the beginning of each bar 1,2,3..8.

iZotope Neutrino

Spectral shaping

Neutrino can be used to to reveal subtle amounts of detail that can elevate great mixes to a new level of refinement, say iZotope. The user can add balance and focus to their mixes by applying it to every track or the major mix buses (just like analog summing or console emulations).
  1. Neutrino includes 4 modes, tailored to specific instrument types:
  2. Voice: Adds clarity and detail to help vocals sit on top of the mix.
  3. Instrument: Preserves the authentic character of the instrument.
  4. Bass: Adds punch and weight to electric, acoustic, and synth basses.
  5. Drums: Emphasizes transient detail to avoid "muddy" mixes.

Voxengo MSED

Voxengo MSED 3.0, a free audio encoder-decoder plugin for mid-side processing.

MSED is able to encode (split) the incoming stereo signal into two components: mid-side pair, and vice versa: decode mid-side signal pair into stereo signal. MSED is also able to work in the "inline" mode with the ability to adjust mid and side channels' gain and panning without the need of using two plugin instances in sequence. MSED can be used to flip the phase of the mid and side channels by 180 degrees, and swap the stereo channels, and to extract the mid or side channel.
MSED features the "plasma" vector scope, stereo correlation and balance meters which make it easier to monitor the stereo information present in the audio signal.

RAS Vintage synth collection

Roberson Audio Synthesizers  Vintage Synth Collection

RA Mowg is an emulation of a Moog Minimoog Model D.
An instrument that not only resembles the Minimoog in appearance, but delivers the same feel while playing. From the deep, full-bodied filters, to the mellow analog-style oscillators, to the distortive drive from feedback-looping the output, this instrument can give you the feeling of playing a Minimoog.

Oddy-Free is an emulation of an Arp Odyssey Mk.II - much attention to detail was given in the layout of the signal path to have it behave as accurately as possible. It does have just a touch more umph than most originals would - this particular emulation was based on the "illegal" filter versions based on Moog's -24dB Low-Pass filter, so it sounds quite a bit smoother and richer but at the same it can produce the harsh metallic tones known from the Odyssey.
Prophanity is an emulation of a Sequential Circuits Prophet 5. Much time was given for attention to detail in nearly every aspect of the instrument, and most every subtlety has been accounted for.
The Mini-Vyn is an original virtual analog/subtractive design, entered as a competition piece for KVR Audio's Developer Competition circa 2006. With the ability to be monophonic as well as polyphonic (and possessing a slightly different tonal quality between the modes), the Mini-Vyn is also an incredibly flexible "bread-and-butter" VA. To set it truly apart, the instrument has a feedback-overdrive circuit of original Roberson Audio design that gives the filter a rich and organic sound when pushed to the extreme.
TerVoxSyn is Roberson Audio Synthesizer's very own Theremin emulation. A very special filter model was designed to accurately capture the voice-like sound of a true tube-type Theremin.

OverDubber 2

OverDubber 2 is the sequel of the first freeware dub delay effect released back in the summer of 2013.
OverDubber 2 free delay VST can be used to get those morphing/distorting Dubstep tails (“Trippy tails”) sound effects.
This plugin is suitable for music styles like Dub, TripHop, DnB, also for EDM build ups when used with its pitch shifter.
This new version comes with some improved internal effects, a bigger user interface and some new features such as the pitch shifting module, a bitcrusher, a new multi-mode filter and the pitch-mod that simulates a reel control which can be used to increase or decrease the amount of the delayed signal.
More features to mention: two-tap delay, MIDI-Learn, panic button, the Explode button, and more others.
“Basically, OverDubber is a stereo delay plugin but it has a filter, a big crusher, a pitch shifter and an automatic stereo pitch LFO in the feedback loop, quite an unusual combo.”

HY-Mono

monophonic synthesizer
Based on the structure of Oberheim SEM.

It is a virtual analog monophonic synthesizer featuring two oscillators and a sub/noise generator, two ADS envelopes (no release parameter), a single LFO, portamento, a 2-slot modulation matrix, and a built-in delay effect. The user interface is fully resizable and also features a built-in patch browser with a rather well implemented patch randomization future. It is possible to prevent certain sections of the synth engine from changing their value when randomizing the patch, which is a neat touch.
Being a monophonic synth it is more than capable of creating some great sounding bass and lead sounds, as well as all sorts of noisy and blippy sound effects. The instrument sounds very nice overall (both the oscillators and the filters are quite decent) and it’s easy to program thanks to the well designed user interface.

http://hyakken.moo.jp/WordPress/product/hy-mono/

Exotic

The swedish developers JB and CPS have been released a small synth with two oscillators with 16 waveforms, two envelopes and LFOs, three effects (chorus, reverb and decimator) and one filter section with three different filter modes(LP, HP, BP). Additionally there’s a fatner to create sounds more wide and fat. The sounds are specificated for Melbourne Bounce and EDM styles.

Splash

The swedish software-developers of Infected Sounds (Johan and Carl) have released a new freeware synth called Splash. This synth has got four oscillators, two modulation- and one amp envelopes with individual slopes, two different matrixes (one for LFOs and envelopes each). Every oscillator has got 42 different waveforms. An effect section with distortion, bit reducer, 4-band-EQ, Chorus, Reverb is included too.
It’s suitable for music genres like Diablo House, Future House, Tropical House, Deep House, Melbourne Bounce and EDM as well.

Xhip synth

xhe xxx-xated xound xource

Xhip was originally designed as a basic synthesizer used inside a tracker ("acid tracker") around 1999. Before that it had existed in pieces as small tools for generating samples to be used in more common trackers.
With the addition of a second oscillator, super-saw unison, two filters, a waveshaper, pairs of modulators (envelopes, and LFOs); Features like ringmod, xmod, filter input FM, saturation and global unison Xhip has become far more than its original intention.
Xhip allows you to produce the highest quality dual-oscillator polyphonic synthesizer sounds similar to classic poly synthesizers of the late 80s. Strings, synth pads, basses, leads, organs, pianos, percussions, bells, vocals, sound effects and more are demonstrated in the included bank.

Xhip Effects

Xhip Effects
xhe xxx-xated xffects?

These effect plugins were originally created for use with Xhip. Originally Xhip was to have embedded effects. It was later decided that external plugins would be more versatile and easier to manage when used for other tasks.

The latest version of the Xhip Effects bundle consists of 13 plugins in total: clipper, compressor, envelope follower, noise gate, limiter, delay, multiplier, phaser, s&h quantizer, rectifier, reverb, tremolo and ring modulator.

The quality of the included plugins is very high and it’s quite surprising that Xhip’s freeware effects aren’t more popular. As a toolbox for every day mixing and sound design tasks, the Xhip Effects collection works quite well, especially for users with slower machines. Xhip’s plugins are very well optimized and they use only a tiny fraction of the available CPU resources. In fact, this is one of the most lightweight FX bundles around in terms of storage requirements as well. The installer is only 620 KB in size.

SaschArt easyLimiter

easyLimiter is a simple lookahead limiter optimized for performance and ease of use. The plugin is quite transparent, even when pushed towards somewhat more extreme settings. It works best for quick limiting tasks, though, when used on individual tracks, or on a less busy bus and master channels.
Extremely lightweight in terms of CPU consumption, which seems to be one of the SaschArt’s priorities while developing his plugins (and rightfully so). This is particularly important when it comes to the limiter plugin, as it is one of the most CPU friendly limiters currently available.

SaschArt delays

panDelay is a simple delay effect which allows the user to pan the delayed signal towards the left or the right stereo channel. The interface features only five control parameters: delay rate, pan, feedback and a pair of dry/wet volume sliders. The controls are pretty straightforward and the plugin itself is very easy to use. It’s worth noting that the delay rate parameter is smooth, meaning that you won’t hear any clicks or pops while changing the rate value (particularly useful if you’re automating the rate parameter in your DAW).

smoothDelay
Double Delay with left and right separate knobs, smooth rate changing. Very low resources taken!
Double Delay for best left/right delay control....

pongDelay 2
Enhanced ping pong delay, smooth rate changing, pan width. Extremely low resources taken!
Easy delay for nice audio effects....

Voxengo Tempo Delay 2

Tempo Delay 2 is a stereo delay effect with separate multi-mode filters and tremolo effects in each channel. The control scheme is somewhat unusual, as it features an internal BPM setting (which can be freely adjusted or synced to the host application’s tempo setting) in addition to the Delay and Rep Period controls in both channels. The Delay parameter sets the initial delay time, whereas the Rep Period control determines the delay speed after that.
The built-in filters are quite aggressive, with rather wild resonance which sound great when combined with longer feedback times. Changing the BPM value while the delay is active results in a smooth pitch shifting effect which can be put to good use in a variety of sound design scenarios.
CTRL + drag will simultaneously change the same control parameter in the left and right channels, whereas CTRL + double click will set the clicked parameter to the same value in both channels.

Semantic Audio SAFE project

Semantic Plugins

The SAFE Project is motivated by the lack of statistically-defined transferable semantic terms in music production and the requirement for more intuitive control of low-level parameters. One of the main outcomes of the project is a suite of DAW plug-ins that allow you to both save and load semantic terms from within the audio production workflow. This means you can now control your audio effect plug-ins using terms that normal human beings can understand! Just type a term (such as warm, bright, etc…) into the text-box, and if we have it on our server, your parameters will be moved around to represent this. Similarly, if you achieve an effect that can be explained in semantic terms, input it into the box and hit save. As the plug-ins are based on the music production community, the more users that input terms, the more representative the effects become for everyone else!
