2RuleFilter

2RuleFilter is a free Moog type-based filter plugin for PC & Mac with expanded functionalities for crazy, filtered glitch sounds.

The plugin is based on a classic, self-resonant Moog filter and features lowpass, highpass & bandpass settings. The filter cutoff frequency can be controlled manually, or by an LFO or by an envelope follower. It’s not a basic filter but has some cool additional features.

One of these is called “scrambler” that plays filtered signals randomly depending on the selected beat. Using this function, you can maintain the rhythmic, choppy, buffered, and tempo sync output. The mix knob mixes wet/dry signals. Further, there is a bit-crusher onboard that produces harsh, distorted sounds.

Bark Of Dog 2 High-Pass Filter

Bark of Dog 2 is a resonant high-pass filter plugin designed for cleaning up the extreme bass frequencies while, at the same time, being able to boost a part of the low-end spectrum. The new version of the plugin expands on the original Bark of Dog by introducing two additional filtering modes: Passive and Combo. The default mode, labeled Classic, is exactly the same as the original Bark of Dog’s single processing mode.
The new filtering modes: The first one, called Passive, is modeled after the classic Pultec passive equalizer design. This filter design is famous because of the “Pultec low-end trick” for boosting the bass frequencies, also known as the “push-pull technique”. The technique essentially consists of removing unwanted bass content while also boosting the cutoff frequency, thus increasing clarity and improving the bass presence at the same time. Bark of Dog 2 does the latter while operating in Passive mode, using the Boost knob to add more bass at the cutoff point. However, when set to Passive mode, Bark of Dog 2 doesn’t remove any frequency content below the cutoff point. It simply works as a single peak EQ band with a fixed curve.

FAT Filter

FAT Filter is a super-smoth analog filter effect which was designed to keep the CPU hit as low as possible. 
Its only features are cutoff and resonance knobs, and a switch to choose between the low-pass and high-pass filtering modes. If you need any additional features like filter drive, modulation, slope adjustment, or input/output gain controls, FAT Filter is not the tool for you. One pretty decent alternative is FilterCrusher, a saturated filter effect which is available for free download via BPB. HY-Lofi2 is an improved version of the developer’s older HY-Lofi plugin which featured a very similar interface and control layout. The new iteration of HY-Lofi adds a dry/wet slider for easy parallel processing, an input gain control, and introduces two brand new quantizer modes. The drive section has been simplified by removing the drive shaping mode selector in favor of a more streamlined workflow.

The plugin still features a dedicated filter section with cutoff frequency adjustments for the HP and LP filters. A preset manager is also included in the top section of the interface, along with undo/redo buttons and a bypass switch. The user interface is fully resizable. HY-Lofi2 looks slightly different from its predecessor, sharing a similar color scheme but with redesigned buttons and sliders to fit the developer’s new lineup of plugins.

In use, HY-Lofi2 is a great tool for adding a bit of dirt to the processed signal. The bit reduction module offers four different digital distortion flavors to choose from, whereas the drive and filter sections help do a good job of rounding up the processed audio signal before the output.

bx_subfilter

bx_subfilter, a freeware utility for adding clarity and definition to the low-end of your mix.

The plugin is based on the common concept of using a resonant high-pass filter to clean up the extreme low end and boost a target frequency range at the same time. Essentially, the filter tames the content below the cutoff frequency and adds clarity and definition at the cutoff point. It’s a pretty neat technique and certainly a good alternative to using a combination of a non-resonant HP filter and peak filter to do the job.

bx_subfilter was developed with this specific technique in mind and I’m pretty sure that Brainworx designed its curve and behavior to translate well to processing the sub-bass frequency range. Apart from the cutoff knob (which is labeled Tight Punch on the user interface) bx_subfilter also features a fixed band-pass filter control which boosts the low end, a resonance control for adjusting the amount of volume boost at the cutoff point, and input/output gain controls.
